Although the methods that Aandi suggests (PDEdit, PDEImage, etc.)
will work, I've found that for insertion of a JPEG into a PDF, using COS
calls is MUCH easier! All you need to do is create a stream object and
copy the data from the jpeg file into the stream. Then set up the
dictionary of the stream to contain all the appropriate entries (/Type
/Image, etc.) Then add that object to the list of XObject resources on the
page. Then create a new content stream and put in the appropriate data (1
0 0 1 x y cm /Name Do) to the content stream.
