It looks as if it were not possible to create main menu items with
JavaScript; but that you would need a plug-in to bring that
functionality. This is not thaaat critical because in production,
your JavaScript defining the menu items would be a "plug-in"
JavaScript anyway. So, instead of one single file, you would have to
deploy two files the very first time.
