Rob,

The setting in the Preferences - 'Open Cross Linked Documents In Same
Window' may be the problem and is likely the culprit for closing the
original document and opening the next.

Nothing really exists to emulate the Javascript in HTML, since Javascript
for Acrobat is based on a different Object Model it's methods are quite
different.

Read the Forms Javascript Guide (from the Help Menu) for a complete list of
Javascript Methods available in Acrobat.
