Do you really mean the printer's hard disk, or the disk of the
person printing the file?

Depends on the printer driver and printer in question.

If you have a Postscript Level 3 printer, for example, it can take
a native PDF document and will rasterize it on the printer. If your
printer only does "bits", then the PDF is rastered on the computer and the
bits are sent to the printer.

Can you give us some more information about EXACTLY what you are
trying to accomplish here, and perhaps we can give you some help...
