The main document you need to concentrate from the SDK is the IACREF and
IACOVR.pdf files. IAC is InterApplication Communication and allows a VB
(and other) programmer to access/automate features and functions within
Before you get too stuck in, download some of the code from the IAC section
on CodeCuts (http://www.codecuts.com) . This will give a good understanding
of how IAC works with VB/Acrobat.
You will then be able to reuse some of the codecuts code (be careful of
copyright) to add your findtext function.
Also, you should also be aware there are some 'bugs' in the way text is
retrieved using IAC and Version 4.00 of Acrobat - this has been fixed in
If this is still to overwhelming have you considered not using VB and
perhaps sticking with Acrobat Catalog Indexes?
Have you had your AcroTip this week?
