Topic: synchronized actions

When the user presses a button in my JavaScript form within
Acrobat 4, I need to run an external exe file and then play a
movie. The external exe generates the movie file to be played,
so these two actions need to be synchronized. I am not aware of
any synchronization mechanism inside Acrobat. When an event
is associated with multiple actions, all actions seem to be
starting at once.

To deal with this problem, since I know the approximate time
that the exe runs for, I wrote a JavaScript to wait for that
much time. So, my event actions look like "OpenFile(exe),
JavaScript(wait), Movie". The time estimates for waiting
have to be conservative (i.e., longer) to avoid "file not found"
errors. Because of this, it is necessary for me to at
least show an hourglass cursor or some other indication to
the user while the wait is on. I could not find anything on
hourglass cursors on the Net. Further, even simple actions like
changing the fillColor or border of the button before and
after the wait do not work for some reason.

My questions:
1. Is there a better way to handle synchronization than what
I am doing, in Acrobat4?
2. Is there a way to change cursor to hourglass and back from
within JavaScript?
3. Can some kind soul provide an example of a simple script
that, say, shows a button in red, waits for 5 seconds and
then shows it in blue?

Thanks a ton,
- Sreeram
