Actually i am running an exe file called djpeg.exe in dosprompt as follows.

c:\test\djpeg -outfile decompressedImage.jpg originalImage.jpg

i think i am not clear in this subject and i will post a very clear message
very soon. Also if u can, please tell me what routines i need to use in
order to compress and decompress JPEG (CMYK) images.

I'm confused also, since PPM is a different image format.

What routines are you calling in libjpg? Without knowing EXACTLY
what you are doing, we can't really diagnose the problem. BUT I can tell
you that libjpg works just fine with CMYK images.
