I am currently running a VB application which automatically generates PDF (via Acrobat 4.0). These reports are published to our intranet website, and are used by company engineers and service technicians worldwide to access critical product information for solving customer problems. The VB application queries an Access database for the information, processes the data and outputs it to a reporting tool called (Video Soft View 6.0). The VB app then selects "Distiller" as the printer and subsequently outputs the reports (in PDF format). Included in these reports are hyperlinks to other intranet sites, but the hyperlinks are inactive. They can only be activated by manually opening the PDF documents (via Acrobat 4.0), and selecting the "Web Link - Create function". Because of the size of the reports and the web configuration used, manually creating the links is not feasible.

The preferable solution would seem to be:

1) Generate the PDF files as described above
2) Open the PDF (still within VB) using VBA AcroApp,
parse the text and add hyperlinks wherever
"http://" is found.

I believe I need to do this using VBA but I haven't been able to load any Adobe drivers (dll's) that will accomplish the task.

If you can lead me in the right direction and/or know of any methods that will activate the weblinks dynamically, I'm eternally grateful. I sent this problem to Adobe developer support and after several emails back & forth they sent me a solution which didn't work, stated the case was closed. Never did they ask if their solution (which was vague at best) worked and basically, I don't think they knew how to solve it.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
