Topic: JavaScript Interface to custom plugin

Hi there,

I am interested in creating a JavaScript Interface to my digital signature plugin for Acrobat. I would like it to be similar to the interface provided with the PPKLite Signature Handler Object (See the Adobe Acrobat Technical Note 5186, Acrobat JavaScript Object Specification, for more information in it).

I tried the following JavaScript code and received an error (below):
---------
var myHandler = security.getHandler("TEST.MyHandler", true);
myHandler.login("test", "test");
---------
TypeError: myHandler has no properties
---------

Of course I expected to get that error, since I had never set up any properties for my handler. Ignoring that, and knowing that my handler is super-simple and doesn't do any actual work, I decided to go ahead with a slightly more involved set of code:
---------
var inch = 72;
var aRect = this.getPageBox( {nPage: 0} );
aRect[0] += .5*inch; // 1/2 inch from top left corner
aRect[2] = aRect[0]+.5*inch;
aRect[1] -= 2*inch; // 2in by 2in
aRect[3] = aRect[1] - 2 * inch;
// add a signature field
var f = this.addField("mySig", "signature", 0, aRect );
// get my handler
var myHandler = security.getHandler("TEST.MyHandler", true);
// clear the signature field
this.resetForm(["mySig"]);
// sign the signature field
f.signatureSign(myHandler);
---------
uncaught exception:Console :Exec:10: Invalid argument value for Field.signatureSign. ===> Parameter oSig.
---------

Parameter oSig is the first (and only required) parameter for Field.signatureSign. It is supposed to be the signature handler, which is what I'm passing to it.

So, has anyone tried this before?? Any pointers toward more information that might help in my quest would be helpful. Thanks a lot,

--Peter Hesse

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
