This is a major bummer about Acrobat 5. Things are supposed to get more functional, not less.
Anyway, if you open the "first" image with the [Open as Acrobat PDF" option of the File Menu, you can then repent that option, but this time "highlight" the rest of your images. When the option appears, choose "Append to Current Document". As far as I know, you can open an unlimited number of images this way.
It only takes a second longer then the Import option of Acrobat 4. However, Acrobat 4 had a limit of importing 50 images at a time. So it is a win some, lose some.
Ultimately, it doesn't take any longer, just a little trickier to figure out.
Open the first image by its self, then append the rest of the images all at once with the [Open as Acrobat PDF]
