I'm writing a Java program to generate PDF. Now I have image files: jpeg, tiff, png, bmp (format, not just file type). The info contained within these image files is all that's available.
The PDF Reference Manual specifies image XObject dictionary entries as mandatory:
Width, height, ColorSpace, BitsPerComponent.
Width and Height are rendered size. Internet Browsers do not neeed anything else. But what for are ColorSpace, (additional) Decode's and BitsPerComponent needed? Does'nt Acrobat Reader detect image format and compressions itself from image file data? What are the minimum dictionary entries in the XObject to render images on the Internet Browser way?
