1. I was writing vb application, which refers 'adobe acrobat 5.0 type library', 'aformaut 1.0 type library'. Sometimes, if the application gets terminated during run (Now I don’t know why this also happens with acrobat), it keeps the 'acrobat.exe' file open in memory. (This I came to know from task manager) Now next time i run the application then I am not able to instantiate acrobat. And I get run time error.
Acrobat remaining in memory also happens sometimes when i try to set the acrobat object to nothing. And then i think, at that time some related objects are open. I am trying to find the solution on this.
2. The other thing that i thought of is close the ‘acrobat.exe’ instance whenever i start my application. But then what if that instance is started by some other application? I am searching the way, whether any other application is making use of it. And which specific application has instantiated 'acrobat.exe'. Probably then I will be able to decide whether to close the instance using API.
3. since setting the acrobat object to nothing (sometimes) gives me run time error and also keeps the 'acrobat.exe' running in memory. I was thinking whether not to close the instance that my application has created. But then would there be any impact on the objects associated with it>? And can it get closed automatically after N time if no activity is happening with it.
