Topic: Need to determine whether SendMail plug-in succeed

I'm trying to get a confirmation to the user that their message was sent, or if they cancel out of the process to show that the message wasn't sent.

I've added a "Submit" button to my PDF form that calls the mailDoc method.

The script behind the button is:
this.mailDoc(false, sendto, "", "", "", "")

The form is accessed through an IE 5.5 SP2 web browser.

What I would like to do is display a message after the send, something to the affect of "Your message has been successfully sent to".

The problem is that whether the SendMail function succeeds or fails, the next line of my script is going to display the alert that the message was sent successfully. If the user hits 'cancel' when selecting their MAPI profile, or entering their password, SendMail displays the message "SendMail cannot logon! ...". So the plug-in knows that it failed, but the mailDoc method doesn't have any return value or actually generate an error.

Is there any way to branch my code based on whether the mailDoc succeeds or fails?

I've tried using "try.. catch" with no success. I've also double checked that no value is returned from the mailDoc method.

We are running the full Acrobat 5.0 client, using Outlook 97 as our MAPI client and Lotus Notes 5.08 as our email system.

Please let me know how I can accomplish this, or if it's just not possible.
