Topic: Acrobat Reader 5 Layer problems

Hello,
I am having problems with text layered pdfs (compression enabled) created with the Clibpdf Premium v2.02 C library (pdf version 1.2) and Acrobat Reader 5.0. Namely, Acrobat Reader 5.0/5.05 is displaying these pdf documents that displayed fine in Reader 4.05 and prior with invisible text in all but the last page. That is, pdfs that displayed fine in Reader 4.0 are consistently being displayed with invisible text on all but the last page of the document. This seems to affect only pdfs generated with text being overlayed onto an image.
I have tried a number of things to try and get around this Adobe problem including changing fonts, etc. No luck. It would seem that the only solutions I can think of is to find some third party ActiveX control/command line utility that convets version 1.2 pdfs to version 1.4 and "flattens" them. I have looked around on the web and have found nothing that will do the either the conversin or the flattening job easily. Does anyone know of a utility/package that can do this? Has anyone seen this problem with Reader 5.0 before and if so how did you get around the problem. Thanks.
