Yes it's possible.

It's easy to do poorly, hard to do well, and potentially slow
- but yes, it can be done!

AFAIK, the Solaris version of Acrobat is ONLY Reader and does
NOT support search/Catalog.

You either need to be a programmer, or hire one...
