Topic: Object label badly formatted

I have an C# application that uses automation to view and manipulate PDF files. I have noticed with acrobat 5.0 that on some documents when I try to create a signature with a third party plugin I get back two consecutive error messages:

"Digital Signature Alert: Could Not create changes data"

I press ok and get

"Digital Signature Alert: Object label badly formatted"

What could cause this problem.

Note i have 20 files that work fine, HOwever if I upload the file to a server and download it again it seems a 20% chance this happens.

Is some thing getting corrupted during the transfer?
I can't see that is the problem becase if I view the file in standalone it seems to work ok it is just in ole automation it fails consistently
