Hi...I'm new here...
Acrobat Reader 5
QT Pro 5
I'm a storyteller...I have zero programming skills...that said...
I'm trying to deliver a .pdf with linked .mpg streaming media. Using
the movie tool, I'm able to invoke the large(500MB) wholedamnfile.mpg
in QT (5) player within the .pdf...ah..herein lies the rub...
I want to provide random access to specific selected portions of the
clip...maybe 10-12 linked clips...(these are not QT.mov files..)
Using QT 5 Pro...I am able to "Save as" a non-self contained "meta
file" with "Play Selected Only", selectedportion.mpg, using the in/out
pointers, with a size of 2KB....this is good...When loading the file
in QT5 Player outside of A5, it opens that file and the timeline
pointer goes right to the specific time; when play is invoked it plays
just that portion only...ah you say..so what's the problem?
When using the movie tool and selecting the meta file
selectedportion.mpg as the media, A5 recognizes the file and allows
the link, BUT, when I play it back, it will only play the referenced
file wholedamnfile.mpg - meanwhile, many backflips/somersaults later,
No way - No how will it play just the selected portion of the that
OK...I now know A5 can't (or won't) handle this....same thing...
So here's the question to the Java Script folks...again, I'm not a
Is there a way within A5 to create a Link using Acro JS that would
QT5/selectedportion.mpg outside of A5 which would open the QT5
standalone player and play selectedportion.mpg automatically just as
it plays outside of A5??...I have been able to open QT5 on top of A5
and manually load/play selectedportion.mpg flawlessly...
I can do this calling a WIN DOS Batch file linked in A5...but it's not
Or is there is any other solution?
