Topic: Automatically populating PDF form fields from HTML forms

Hi, everybody. I am a rookie software developer for my company and they have asked me to develop an application that will allow my co-workers to fill out PDF forms on-line, and then dump their data into a database and also save the entire PDF as an image in our SQL database. This part I understand how to do, but I am having problems trying to populate the PDF forms from the HTML form. They want it to have a "TurboTax" feel to it, where the user is asked to fill in some vital, repetitive information that is found common on all of the PDF forms. When I try to save the variable values from the HTML to the PDF forms (or even from PDF to PDF), it doesn't hold the value. I get an "undefined" value in the field. We are using a WebSphere server, which is Java-based, and that is limiting my resources. I wrote a JavaScript that holds the values, but it only seems to work when I store each PDF locally on my machine. It contacts the server and then sends back the values to the locally stored PDF, but it doesn't work through an Internet browser. Basically, I have tried everything from JSP's to VBScripts to FDF, etc. I don't want to use the FDF toolkit because it doesn't seem to work on our server (I have tried). I open to any suggestions. Thanks for your help in advance.

Matt
