Topic: Using box drawing characters (unicode or LineDraw)

I am converting ascii encoded text data that uses the PC-8 characterset (printing on HP printers) to PDF documents. These are legacy reports under UniVerse on AIX printing to HP printers. The data is in character sequences and would prefer to not rewrite the programs producing the reports. How would I either encode unicode directly into the PDF doc text stream (i.e. unicode character 252C) or specify a PC-8 characterset to render the gridlines (same character is 194 in the PC-8 set)?
