I'm trying to find a solution to print the games sheets for our soccer league in Ottawa.
At the moment we have the artwork for the game sheet in a pdf file which is physically printed (at a printing company). The coaches get a bunch of blank games sheets at the beginning of the season and fill in the players names manually for each game. (It's not that relevant to this discussion ... but the game sheets come in a 3-part package akin to using carbon paper).
A copy of our game sheet is at: http://ocslonline.ca/docs/ocslgss.pdf
We'd like the coaches to be able to TYPE in the players and coaches' names on a computer and print out one or more copies of the game sheet. This will save the coaches entering names manually each time and make things more legible for the office.
Since we have about 650 teams, we are looking for a UNIVERSAL SOLUTION so that coaches:
* can download the sheet to their computer
* can use a mac or PC, and
* don't have to have any particular software on their computer
... probably too much to hope for :-)
PDF seems to be a great solution for VIEWING, but we need to let them edit.
A naive solution would be to create the sheets in both MS Word and WordPerfect and then assume that they have one or the other of the two word processors on their computer.
Another possibility might be for the website to capture the team information (ie, enter via a web page), and allow a formatted game sheet to be printed from the web. In this case, any special software would be bought and installed only once -- on the webserver -- for all to use.
Can anyone help me with this so we can move forward in some intelligent way.
