7/10/02 post posed my question (in Javascript Conference) but there was no response:

"Im a Java & PDF newby. I need a simple script similar to the "special" built in Social Security Number fomat that can be used for EIN numbers (vendor W9 Tax IDs).

The format is 99-9999999 (2 num, hyphen, 7 num)."

I am looking for a script example that I can copy and paste into the edit custom script and or keystroke and or validate form field properties window.
I have spent 3 days with the Object Specification Guide.
I have made many unsuccessful attempts including:
var v = "aaa99-9999999zzz";
v = util.printx("99-9999999", v);

I love using the Adobe 5.0 Forms and I was very happy to find on this site the cut and paste answer to my change form field to uppercase issue. I am having trouble understanding Javascript. Please, please help.
