Topic: Specific Catalog Serach

I often have to compile CDs with search functions. Currently I have been tasked to compile a CD with global search functions and isolated catalog search functions (by folder). Of course I have a tight deadline and am uncertain at this time whether I can do the isolated search (unobservable to the user). It is my understanding that to do search-specific catalogs ONLY (without out the end-user selecting the catalog index) that JavaScript would have to be written?? The users of the CD are not knowledgeable enough in search/PDF functions to know were to select which catalog to search.

Can a user like myself who is not familiar with JavaScript able to write a script, so when a homepage is launched ONLY specific index catalogs be selected? Or is there any script out there now that already performs such a function? I was very surprised to find out that Adobe Acrobat does not have a function that allows you to isolate and lock catalog searches.

Any information or resources you can throw my way to assist in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your time and attention to this matter.
