I am a new subscriber to this forum and I am seeking a solution to a problem I have encountered.

Some of my customers are sending me files for printing in .pdf format. These files are large charts comprising of mainly text and lines. The program they use to create these files is Family Tree Maker (FTM) by Broderbund, a family tree making program which creates family tree charts of considerable length which normally can be printed straight from the program by setting the appropriate page size. Using Windows 98SE.

FTM has the facility to convert the chart to .pdf format using the Amyuni developer application.

When saving to .pdf the program sometimes shrinks the document in size by a factor of 10, for example, a chart 550 inches long originally is reduced to only 55 inches long when saved as a .pdf from within the program.

When I open the files in Acrobat and resize them to the original size the resulting print is just a mess. It appears that the resolution has been reduced during the original save and when resized the result is not even readable. I would appreciate any suggestions as to how I may solve this problem. The program makers technical support dept. do not answer my questions.

Kind regards.
Ron O'Neill
