Topic: Converting a Word doc to PDF: a looping?

I have Acrobat 5.0.5 and converted a 137 pages (about 6M) document from MS Office Word 2000 to PDF. It delayed about 1.5 hour - Too much, I think.
The same document with the same options, simply doesn't work in Office XP (Word2002). It seamed to be in looping - I stood by 2 hours and aborted it.
Notice that my Office XP is under a Windows XP under a 512M Pentium 4.

Has somebody any idea what's going on? I appreciate any hint.

Thanks,

Jordao.
