I have a client for whom I have automated a process by which TIFF files are converted to PDF files and then Paper Captured. The Client then goes through the document correcting the Capture Suspects.

The client has been testing this system for a few days now and has come back to me with some issues.

1) Some documents which look clear enough to the naked eye will not capture. This I believe is a problem with the quality of the original scanned document. Is there some way of changing the resolution used by Acrobat when opening a TIFF image As a PDF (This is how I am doing the conversion from TIFF to PDF)?

2) More concerning than the first problem is that the client has reported some massive file size changes after correcting capture suspects. For instance one file which went from being a 170Kb PDF to 10,752Kb after correction.

I used Tools|PDF Consultant to Audit the Space usage and got some odd results. Over 98% of the file was reported as being of Unknown type.

Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is there any way of compacting the file?

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
