Topic: Problem with FDF PDF merging

I am using Java FDFToolkit for some time now and have encountered few problems trying to merge FDF data into the existing PDF document template. First let me explain my ultimate goal. Our company provide the range of webservices for the clients and one of them is to let the client work with the number of PDF documents. Now these documents are PDF templates that were prepared by our company and our wish is to not make them available for the public download or review.
PDF documents upon opening by client should be populated with information fetched from database on the webserver using Java FDF toolkit.
Now there are few approaches I tried to follow:
1) basically merge FDF data into the PDF template using FDF toolkit on the webserver. But here is my problem:
If I am correct the only way to do it is to supply URL for the PDF template together with the FDF information returned to the client. But this automatically makes the PDFs accessible by anyone knowing URL which is unacceptable.
2)open the template first from the secure location of the website and then submit form data from the document to the webserver. But unfortunately in this case I`m getting the "file corrupted bla bla.." message in the Acrobat. Now I know that people were sometimes able to correct the returned FDF data to avoid this type of error but I understand there is no general fix for that working for everyone.
Now I would like to ask your opinion which way of these two is better and why. Also if someone has any advise how to resolve my problem the help will be greatly appreciated. Again I would like PDF templates to reside in secure location on the webserver and not be accessible by public URL.
Thanks for your time,
