I have to prepare several forms and letters that are sent via e-mail to buildings that we manage. I have been using Adobe Distiller to convert WordPerfect files into Adobe Acrobat files, which works wonderfully.

The problem is that some of the buildings are unable to open the files, yet others have no problem whatsoever. I did a test today for one manager who told me she couldn't open the file due to a font problem. When I scanned the pages instead of using Distiller, she was able to open them. I have set Distiller to the settings directed in Help, which should embed almost all of the fonts.

Not all of the buildings are having the same problems. I am instructing them to also make sure they have the most recent version of Acrobat Reader. I also think there may be a security problem with anti-virus programs. In Help, they talk about zipping the files to help get by the security issues, but I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Also, once the file is received on the other end, will they be able to open it from its zipped version?

If anyone out there can help me with conversion vs scanning and the e-mail issue, I would definitely appreciate it!

Thanks.

Granny
