It's just e-mail compatability issues. Not all e-mail programs exchange attachments clearly. This is an unwelcome fact, but true. It could be something you can fix with your settings.

To understand it better without bugging the recipient too much, find out what e-mail program (including version) they have, on what system, duplicate the setup, and experiment.
