Topic: Text Selection Tool - unable to edit

When I "select" text using the Text Selection Tool in Acrobat 5.0.5, I can't edit or delete the text selected.

I can "copy" the text and then "paste" it into other programs (like Notepad or Wordpad), so I think that what I have selected is "text" in the PDF

Is this because the PDF file format? I have read that there are different "types" of PDF (i.e. normal and image).

I've read about "plug-ins" for Acrobat. Might I need one to do the edit and deletes I what. If so, what do you recommend.

Thanks in advance.
