I am looking for some answers on how to go about incorporating spot color ads into Quark XPress layouts and then further on to PDF.
The situation:
Each page of our daily paper is pdfed either in grayscale or CMYK depending on its position in the sheetfed web. How do you go about having an ad with spot color (100% PMS) on a grayscale page? Where does our workflow have to change? In the creation of the ad in MultiAd Creator? Layout of the page in Quark XPress? Something when distilling the page in Adobe?
Any pages that have spot color on them we cannot put through the pdf process and still do paste-ups that are camera-ready with the black as one plate and the spot color as the additional plate.
Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
