alas, insertPages does copy the JS, which is the basis for my posting. insertPages will not overwrite doc-level JS functions in the "receiving" doc, but it will add any of its own doc-level JS to that of the "receiving" doc.
that's why i'd like to get rid of any JS in the "pages" to be inserted.
