Topic: Conflicting Recordset Object with Execute

I have a conflict, I believe, but I'm not sure why, how, or where. :) When I run these two together (one recordset, one execute) my form is very very slow (can take 5 minutes for submit). However, if I change the recordset to an execute, it's very fast. I have cut this down to it's most simple form. This syntax does slow down the form's submit.

Anyone have insight as to why? How I could change this? I prefer to leave the recordset as a recordset, so I can lock the record. Why would locking that record slow things down so very much? Can I do this in a different way, different sytax? I believe I'm runing VBScript 5.6

SQL = "select * from FIFORMS"
Set ObjSelct=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
ObjSelct.Open SQL,connectionToDatabase,0,1
Set ObjSelct = Nothing

sqlstatement="select * from EFORMSUSERS"
Set DfesSelct = connectionToDatabase.Execute(sqlstatement) DfesSelct.Close
Set DfesSelct = Nothing
