OK, here's another missing feature. This, from the Help document,
appears only under the title Converting Microsoft Office Files
(Windows):

By default, Adobe PDF files created using these commands and
buttons preserve hyperlinks, styles, and bookmarks present in the
source file.

However, this sentence does not appear under the Title Converting
Microsoft Office file (Mac OS). No wonder none of my links make it
through to the final PDF.

This means that at the moment, someone working on the Macintosh
platform must manually add all links to MS Word documents that do
not spell out the links within the text itself.
