If this happens only when printing, not on screen, this is a specific problem to that combination of software/hardware. It is often seen; sometimes updating the printer driver will sort it out. You may find this user never prints PDFs, that it happens for them with all of them, not just yours.

So focus on problems with printing PDFs on that PC, to start with, NOT on your application.

Bear in mind that PDF is a file format, NOT the name of any software. When you write "I am wondering whether it is their printer - perhaps it is not 100% compatible with PDF. Or could it be that they have an older version of PDF installed?" this can only be read correctly if you substitute [name of their software, probably Acrobat Reader] for PDF.

You should certainly look into what version of Acrobat Reader is in use. Be sure you know (a) what version you are targeting and (b) what versions are installed throughout your corporate user base.
