Something seems amiss...
Using the "convert to Adobe PDF button on the toolbar
of Powerpoint 2000 to convert a one page file; mainly
image, some text.
Since this is a first effort I went with default settings.
Original file is 2059KB, "converted" pdf file is 10,653KB.
Why do I think something is wrong?
First, the conversion took 20-25 minutes. While it was happening, I noted a little exclamation mark flashing over
the pdf symbol on my status bar. When I clicked on it, the following messages came up in notepad:

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: ioerror; OffendingCommand: image ]%%

Stack:
-dict-

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

This happened a couple of times before and each time I aborted the conversion. On the last effort, having noted that the Distiller print job was continuing, I allowed it.
About 20 minutes later I had an untitled pdf file which, painfully slowly began to reveal itself. At least ten minutes later I was able to see the entire image so I went to
"Save As" to give it an actual name. That took about ten
minutes as well. If I minimize Adobe Acrobat 5 (should have mentioned that earlier, huh?) or go away to another application for a moment, the active file has to reveal itself all over again. Another ten minutes or more.
I have a bunch more conversions to do. Advice please?
Thanks, Cam Morton
