Hi All -
We were using Adobe Acrobat 5.0 Catalog and the SDK sample BuildIndex to build index using Adobe Acrobat 5.0 Catalog. We recently found out that Adobe Catalog 6.0 is almost 15 times faster than the 5.0 (Lextek vs Verity - change in search engine technology). Hence we were planning to move to Adobe Acrobat 6.0. We even bought a copy of Adobe Acrobat 6.0.
Now here is the problem - The Adobe Acrobat 6.0 is not sending the windows messages AcrobatCatalogBuildSuccess, AcrobatCatalogBuildFailed and AcrobatCatalogBuildStopped. Acrobat 5.0 used to send these windows messages after a Catalog operation. The 6.0 API docs also say that one of these messages will be send. But, there is something wrong. I can verify it fully if I can get the BuildIndex sample provided in the SDK samples.
But, Adobe Acrobat 6.0 SDK samples are now downloadable only if you sign up for that ASN program. I don't mind paying something for that - but I feel it is highly unreasonable to charge me for a sample program that is already included in a earlier version! And above that the red tapes in my company and in Adobe takes away at least 3 weeks of my development time.
Have any one of you tried invoking Adobe 6.0 Catalog using DDE? Catalog starts indexing when I use DDE - but does not reply back using windows messages as explained above.
