I am using Acrobat-5, Acrobat-5 SDK and IAC with VB 6 to set the properties programmatically. I am working with a set of 135 000 PDF documents. I have written a VB app to open each document, set the document properties (Title, Subject, Author, Keywords) and then resave the document. It seems we have some corrupt PDF documents within this set of 135 000 documents. When a corrupt PDF document is opened it pops a message dialog to inform me that it cannot open the document .. which I really don't want to see, I just want the program to skip that particular document and move onto the next. Is there any way I can suppress these messages so execution will continue? In the code to follow I am correctly getting open_success = 0 .. but that is only after I have clicked OK on the error msg dialog. This is very important as the final server app will be processing PDF documents in real time .. and I don't want to sit there clicking OK each time we get a corrupt PDF :)

Here's some kinda hacky code:

Set acroapp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
Set AVDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")

open_success = AVDoc.Open(pdfFileName, "")

Set AVDoc = acroapp.GetActiveDoc

If AVDoc.IsValid Then

Set PDDoc = AVDoc.GetPDDoc

PDDoc.SetInfo "Title", pdfTitle
PDDoc.SetInfo "Author", pdfAuthor
PDDoc.SetInfo "Subject", pdfSubject
PDDoc.SetInfo "Keywords", pdfKeyWord
test = PDDoc.Save(PDSaveFull, pdfFileName)

End If

AVDoc.Close True

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
