Actually Quark 5 does a lousy job making PDFs and Adobe knows
it. See: http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/2eb46.htm

I've been getting bad ones from Q6 too, but I'm not sure if its
Quark, OS 10.2.4 or the PDF Writer that comes w/ OS X.
