Here is my problem...I am scanning in a book and making it into an e-book in acrobat 6.0 Professional. When I was working on this file
(it's really big, about 500 megs total) I could open it almost instantly with my system monitor showing very little RAM usage. I have saved and re-opened this file many, many times throughout the course of working on it, and had no sluggishness while opening it. The problem is that AFTER I PLACED A CERTIFICATE on it (to prevent
people from modifying it), saved it, and re-opened it, the RAM immediatley filled up completely and the file takes about 10 minutes to open up. The worst part is that when it finally does open up, my system monitor shows that 100% of the RAM us being used. To make matters worse, when I try to open it up off of the CD that I burned it to, it does not open up at all, unless I copy it to the hard drive and then open it up from there. My computer is fairly new and I am using Acrobat version 6.0 professional and my OS is Windows 2000 professional. I have never had this problem with acrobat version 5.0 and I am wondering how do make it open normally like before I placed the certificate onto the file. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me! I have several customers who are waiting to recieve the copy of the e-book that I created, and I am desperate to not make them wait any longer. I am sure that my customers will be using slower computers than what I have, and I cannot imaging the types of problems that they will face if they try to open up the file.
