Having made the changes to an MS Word document in my copy of MS Word 2002, using my full pro version of Acrobat 6.0's integration I created a .pdf of the resulting redline document.
In the original, when looked at in Word's Print Layout view, new material was shown in red, and deleted material was noted in flags in the right margin. In the .pdf version, no flags, no color. What's going on?
