Topic: Named Destinations/JS problem

Wow, I had no idea when I signed up for this forum how many users there are!!!

I've developed a form that I want to link to another .pdf document. I created a read-only button on my document and am attempting to write the javascript to do the action of opening my form (I want to leave my document open while this form opens up).

I've been learning how to use javascript with Ted Padova's book, and I can't quite get the javascript to work. I am referencing page 288, if anyone has the book handy.

I set up the Named Destinations - I think that part is o.k. My javascript is the problem.

The button field on my document is called 5ypcap.

This is the routine I wrote:

var 5ypcap = app.openDoc ("s/2004 Budget/Budget Manual/Reference/General Fund Capital 5yp.pdf);
5yp capital.gotoNamedDest("map");

The error msg. is that "SyntaxError missing variable name at line 1"

I tried value "5ypcap" and the rest of the same routine and I got a different message.

I am just breaking new ground here and am trying to meet some tight deadlines. If anyone has a chance to look at this, and has an idea how to make this work - it would be fantastic to hear from you.

Much appreciated and kind regards,

Marathon_girl

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
