I am building a very large collection of PDF files for an online reference site. (c300 PDF files, several gigs worth of data). The PDF files are beautifully bookmarked.
To provide a text search and corresponding link, I need to provide exported XML files to our corporate search engine. And it's great - all the bookmarks are embedded in the XML.
Unfortunately, as bookmarks are not 'named destinations' and I have a problem: I can't use that data to pass an inter-PDF link - in the form .pdf#nameddest=.
Next step was to think that I might be able to create 'named destinations' from the 'bookmark text'. I could then build the link from the XML using xslt... however I was hoping to find a plug-in to convert bookmarks to 'named destinations' (this is after looking at the batch/macro tool but they're no where near as convenienct as the photoshop tools). I found one on planetpdf.com, but I'm not sure if it works with Acrobat 6 (can't get the eval version to work).
Can anyone help? I can reward with computer books... we publish Morgan-Kaufmann, Digital Press... I'm desperate!
thanks,

(I had thought that the XML that is saved from Acrobat 6 would include 'named destinations' as well as 'bookmarks'. It doesn't appear to. And for some reason only bookmarks that occur between paragraphs are output... Why aren't named desinations the same as bookmarks?)
