Topic: Which protocols are supported by Acrobat?

Are there any other protocols than http that are supported for direct downloading by Acrobat? If not, can I edit some file and change the http-prefix to something else, like pdf or acrobat (to allow Acrobat to download pdf:s from URL:s like pdf://domain.com/document.pdf)?

The reason I ask is that I want my proxyserver to change http://domain.com/document.pdf I encounter while browsing the web to use another protocol (pdf://domain.com/document.pdf) - to force the browser to open them directly in Acrobat.
