Actually, the FULL Acrobat has always supported them - it's
only Reader that doesn't due to its design goals for "nothing
external".

Acrobat doesn't do ANYTHING like PDF "validation"! It lets
LOTS of stuff that isn't valid PDF (according to the spec) through!

I'd like to hear a specific example of something you want to
use PDF for with Acrobat as the viewer that Acrobat won't let you
do...
