I work at a newspaper that has a small, but growing commercial
print operation. We EPS everything (from supplied PDFs) and then
re-import it into Quark templates where we do all of our
imposition, and then re-eps the appropriate imposed pages for
output (via hot folder) to our harlequin RIP. Quality isn't as big of
an issue on newsprint because of all the bleeding, but this
(admittedly archaic) way of doing out output has proven 100%
reliable - as long as out postscript levels are set properly.
Excuse me for if I'm misunderstanding, but couldn't you Distill the
EPS and use something like Pitstop to fix your problem?
