Topic: Possible Fix for Explorer Crash

For some time now we have had a couple of users of our Acrobat Forms application who have not been able to open Forms in an IE6 browser. We use IE6 SP1, with Acrobat 5 (we have not adjusted for Acrobat 6 yet).

The symptoms.. the user can open a form, but if any buttons are pressed (submit buttons to sign/save a form) the IE browser throws out an error message and asks if you want to send a report to MS. Clicking either yes or no closes the browser and reopens a new one, the URL of your home page.

I tried creatin a 'Quick Launch' shortcut that executed acrobat with the "/n" option, but that did not seem to fix the problem.

Today it started happening on my machine. Probably because of something I recently installed/uninstalled, and I would have none of that error. :)

So what I found fixed the error was the following:
IE Tools Menu
Internet Options
Advanced Tab
Under Browsing:
UNCHECK the 'Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)'

I then restarted IE, went to my forms, and viola, no error.

This fixed my computer (NT) and my coworkers computer (WIN2000). I would love to know if this fixes other errors as well. I have call out to one more person I know was having this problem, to see if it fixed their IE as well.

I'm wondering if there is some third-party extention running in IE that is conflicting with Acrobat. And I'm wondering if it's the JavaScript it's conflicing with, as our crashes were around JavaScript actions (buttons and page open actions).

Thanks!
