I've been searching for the following...

A plug-in for VB that will retrieve the selected text in an open PDF file viewed via Reader 5 or 6.

I have Acrobat 5 & 6 professional and am willing to work with whatever version necessary.

This will be for Windows 98-XP clients.

Preferably, I will open the PDF via an ocx within VB. The user browses the file (a parts catalog), clicks on a part, and that info is transferred to VB. I have tried using a link to run a program, but I am unable to pass a parameter (in this case the part #). The PDF file is created from PageMaker files.

Attached is a sample. Click on the red box around part #83005.

I have found 1 ocx to do this, but am wondering if there are any (cheaper) alternatives. PDF Reader OCX at

Any advice would be most appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
