Thanks for the advice--I feel pretty stupid. I have Acrobat 5, and
the catalog function isn't OS X native. Just got off the phone w/
Adobe, and they said that 6.0 should do the job (after converting all
files to OCR).

As an aside, they told me NOT to upgrade to OS 10.2.8, since they
can't guarantee compatibility.
