You are absolutely correct. There are other products that build on the base technology of pdf. Many of them offer features that blow acrobat away. With the move towards electronic forms and the federal mandate that electronic forms have the look and feel of their paper counter parts it is amazing to me that adobe hasn't stepped up to the plate with a design tool and a better data interface.
Seems to me they are missing the chance to own the market!
