How well does the ommi-form product work in interfacing with multiple data bases not located on the users PC?

We have many forms that need to be able to auto-populate certain fields given say a person's id-number and then be able to gather additional information from the desk top input with the eventual result being that the appropriate data bases are updated and the user is able to print out a completed hard copy form.
